About Mangrove Plantation Project

Mangroves are vital coastal ecosystems that stabilize shorelines, filter water, protect against storms, and foster rich biodiversity. They are also incredibly powerful carbon sinks — storing up to four times the carbon per hectare compared to many terrestrial forests — making them central to climate resilience. KSL’s Mangrove Plantation Project, part of the broader Kite Green Initiative, brings together volunteers, community members, students, and visitors to restore and protect these essential forests around Kalpitiya.

How to Get Involved

Get your hands dirty (in the best way!) by joining planting days, educational walks, and coastal restoration workshops. Host or attend mangrove ecology sessions, bring student groups for field learning, or support seedling funding. Corporate partners and nonprofits can sponsor restoration tools or ongoing engagement programs. Contact us to join a planting event or help scale this regenerative initiative.
