Our wing school Sri Lanka is designed for riders of all levels, with a strong focus on safety, proper technique, and steady progression. Our experienced instructors tailor each session to your ability and learning pace.

Our wing foil surfing lessons focus on control, balance, and confident waterstarts. For beginners, we recommend 9–12 hours of lessons to gain solid control of the wing, board balance, and basic riding skills. This timeframe allows you to learn comfortably without rushing, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for wing foiling in Sri Lanka.

Intermediate and advanced riders can also benefit from focused coaching to improve transitions, speed control, and overall performance on the wing foil Sri Lanka lagoon.

How long to learn wing foiling?

Learning to fly over the water is an exciting journey, and the right progression is key. For those starting their wing foil surfing lessons, we recommend a structured approach to ensure safety and success.

Initial Lessons: We suggest committing to at least 2 days of lessons (2 hours each) to grasp the fundamentals.

Practice is Key: After the basics, it’s all about “practice, practice, practice” to build muscle memory.

Total Proficiency: Most beginners find that 9–12 hours of instruction provide the best foundation for independent riding.

Top Tips:

For a better experience, you should be reasonably comfortable in the water if you want to learn to wing foil.

Good balance and upper body strength can make learning to wingfoil a whole lot easier!

Have a go on our SUP boards to imitate and practise standing up on the foil board.

You will be guided at all times throughout your lessons, and make sure to keep asking questions to our instructor to be confident when it's time to go out alone.

Sunscreen

Even on cloudy days the solar radiation is very strong. We recommend you use suncream with SPF 50 or you can purchase our Organic Zinc Sunblock from the Kite Shop.

Rashguard

If you have sensitive skin, or if you just arrived, we recommend you also protect your shoulders and arms with a long sleeve shirt or a rashguard. This will also protect you from any scratches that might be caused by the harness. Our funky KSL rashguards are available in the Kite Shop.

Hat

During your lessons you will wear a helmet, but you might want to protect your head from the sun while at the beach.

Sunglasses

Especially in your first lessons you will look up in the sky (and sun) a lot to see what your kite is doing. If your eyes are sensitive we recommend you wear sunglasses, just make sure to secure them with a band. You can also purchase water repellant sunglasses from our Kite Shop.

Water bottle

There is a water dispenser at the beach where you can refill your water bottle and reusable water bottles are available in your room and at the camp.

Wing school rates

All lessons are billed per hour. The more hours you do the cheaper the lessons become. All lessons include equipment and transport to the kite spot.
