Wing foil is the latest innovation to hit the watersport world and is proving to be here to stay. Combining elements from windsurfing, kiting, and foiling, wing foil provides a new feeling of freedom by harnessing the wind and using the water as our playground.

Is Learning to Wing Foil Hard?

As with any new skill, learning to wing foil is an uphill battle, but one that is so incredibly worth it! Anyone can learn to wing foil and we’ve taught people of all shapes, sizes and ages – from small kids to grandpas, and they all had a great time.

The beauty of the IKO system is that the entire progression to becoming an independent rider is broken down to small wins. So no matter where you are in the lessons, you will be motivated to continue.

How long does it take to learn Wing foiling or Kite foiling?

On average students need about 4 hours of lessons to gain a true understanding of the essence of wingfoiling, however, this greatly depends on individuals.

We recommend you commit to 2 days of lessons which are 2 hours each, and then practise, practise, practise.

Feel free to ask questions and find the best techniques to have longer rides and how to start advancing.

Top Tips:

For a better experience, you should be reasonably comfortable in the water if you want to learn to wing foil.

Good balance and upper body strength can make learning to wingfoil a whole lot easier!

Have a go on our SUP boards to imitate and practise standing up on the foil board

You will be guided at all times throughout your lessons, and make sure to keep asking questions to our instructor to be confident when it's time to go out alone.

What to expect?

Your wing foil lesson will start with an explanation of the equipment we use, then we take it to the beach and start to explore the wing and the power it possesses. You will be shown the best techniques to get up on the foil board and exactly how to utilize the wing while in the water. Then, with the help of one of our instructors we hit the water and put all the knowledge to the test. Our instructors will help to stabilize you, give constant instruction, and show you how to begin your win foiling journey safely. By the end of your lesson, you will have experienced getting up on the board and riding for a few meters in both directions. I guarantee you will want more.

Sunscreen

Even on cloudy days the solar radiation is very strong. We recommend you use suncream with SPF 50 or you can purchase our Organic Zinc Sunblock from the Kite Shop.

Rashguard

If you have sensitive skin, or if you just arrived, we recommend you also protect your shoulders and arms with a long sleeve shirt or a rashguard. This will also protect you from any scratches that might be caused by the harness. Our funky KSL rashguards are available in the Kite Shop.

Hat

During your lessons you will wear a helmet, but you might want to protect your head from the sun while at the beach.

Sunglasses

Especially in your first lessons you will look up in the sky (and sun) a lot to see what your kite is doing. If your eyes are sensitive we recommend you wear sunglasses, just make sure to secure them with a band. You can also purchase water repellant sunglasses from our Kite Shop.

Water bottle

There is a water dispenser at the beach where you can refill your water bottle and reusable water bottles are available in your room and at the camp.

Wing Foil Rates

All lessons are billed per hour. The more hours you do the cheaper the lessons become. All lessons include equipment and transport to the kite spot.
