Kandy is known as the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. It is famous for its many sacred Buddhist sites including the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic which houses a tooth of Buddha. In Kandy, you'll also find the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, and the area around Kandy is home to many tea plantations situated on the mountainsides surrounding the city.
