Vella Island — also called Magic Island or Kite Paradise — is one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic kitesurfing locations. With butter-flat water and steady offshore wind, this remote fishermen’s island is a dream come true for advanced riders looking to level up.

Discovered by our founders, Dil and Leo, during a scouting downwinder in the early 2000s, Vella quickly became a core part of the KSL summer experience. We run at least two trips per week during the season, with one including an overnight under the stars.

Expect unforgettable sessions, postcard-perfect sunsets, and peaceful nights in simple but comfortable island huts. Fall asleep to the sound of waves — and wake up in kite paradise.

Note: This trip requires upwind riding skills. The wind is offshore, but a safety boat is always nearby.
