Puttalam Lagoon is the largest lagoon system in Sri Lanka and one of the most expansive flat-water kitesurfing areas in the country. Stretching between the Kalpitiya Peninsula and the mainland, this vast body of water offers protected riding conditions framed by mangrove islands and quiet fishing channels.

Unlike smaller, compact freestyle spots, Puttalam Lagoon is about space, movement, and exploration. The open water channels create ideal conditions for scenic downwinders, long reaches, and uninterrupted flow sessions.

Our Puttalam Lagoon kite trip begins at KSL, where we shuttle you to a narrow sandbank launch area. From there, you ride a guided downwind route through wide flats and sheltered coves, with our safety boat accompanying the group throughout the session.

This trip is ideal for independent riders who are confident riding upwind and downwind and are looking for a nature-rich kitesurfing experience away from busier kite zones in Kalpitiya.

Note: Strong upwind ability and full board control are required. Rescue boat support is provided during the entire trip.
