Puttalam Lagoon & Mini Vella
SUMMER | HALF DAY | FLAT WATER | RESCUE BOAT | UPWIND RIDING REQUIRED
The Puttalam Lagoon is Sri Lanka’s largest lagoon system. Its in between the Kalpitiya Peninsula and the mainland with the majority of it being the Wilpathu National Park. Its an amazing playground with many mangrove islands. You can also see traditional fishermen fishing for the abundant fish, crab and prawn. Much of it has not changed since time begun. Nature at its best.
Our Puttalam Lagoon and Mini Vella Kite Trips commence at our camp where we take a shuttle to the launch spot on a narrow sandbank. We have a staff to help you launch and keep an eye on you while you ride. Our safety boatman would follow the group just in case anyone needs a rescue. The downwind kite trip will see you zip zag, play in the numerous spots. We will spend more time at Mini Vella which as the name says, its kind of like the main Vella Island – only smaller.
Its a perfect spot, with flat water and a sandbank that protect it. The riding level for this trip is upwind riding and being able to ride downwind as well.
