A quieter flat water playground near Kalpitiya

Kappalady Lagoon is a relaxed, shallow flat water spot located about 30 minutes from KSL by tuk‑tuk or truck. Its protected waters and smooth wind make it a great option for freestyle, cruising, and flow sessions away from the main kite spots.

Unlike our guided trips, KSL does not run boat‑launched tours to this lagoon — instead, you can arrange your own tuk‑tuk or truck transport, bring your gear, and enjoy a flexible session at your own pace. If you’re planning a longer day out, we can pack you some food and water so you’re well supplied.

There’s a local kite school based here — please be considerate and give space to lessons in progress. A simple beach hut is available for you to use from the designated visitors area.

Kappalady Lagoon is perfect as a half‑day outing or a relaxed full‑day exploration, and for confident kiters it’s even possible to ride back toward KSL in a downwind direction — but be aware that no rescue boat support is provided for independent returns.

Note: Rescue boat support is not included at this spot. Plan your session accordingly and check conditions before departure.
