Wellness in Kalpitiya with Florine from “Flow of Life”: Wim Hof Method & IMD Breathwork at KSL

If you view Kalpitiya purely through the lens of sports, it’s easy to focus only on the flat-water stats and daily knot counts. But anyone who stays with us for more than a few days realizes that what we are building here goes beyond the classic kite camp setup.

Over the years, KSL has naturally grown into a space where digital nomads, ocean lovers, and travelers come to slow down just as much as they come to ride. For us, a high-energy day on the water only really works if you have a grounded, relaxed space to reset afterward. It’s about balance, not just adrenaline.

Recently, Florine (Flo), a certified vitality coach based in Dubai and the founder of Flow of Life, brought this philosophy to life at our camp. Over her stay, she hosted three incredible workshops in our open-air shala, focused on nervous system recovery, breath, and mental resilience.

Releasing the Tension: The Mechanics of IMD Breathwork

Flo’s journey at the camp started in the evening with a drop-in group session of IMD Breathwork (Immersive Multidimensional Breathwork). This somatic practice is designed to bypass our over-analytical minds and let the body process accumulated stress, emotional blocks, and travel fatigue without the need to talk, vent, or analyze.

Using eye masks and specialized headphones, Flo completely blocked out the usual background hum of the camp, replacing it with a custom-layered soundscape of frequencies, beats, and gentle voice guidance synced to a continuous, connected breathing pattern.

Watching the shift in the shala was incredible. Guests walked in carrying the chatty, high-energy vibe of a busy holiday, lay down on their mats to breathe, and left an hour later looking genuinely lighter, calmer, and more at peace.

In fact, the experience resonated so deeply with our community that they instantly asked for a repeat—so Flo hosted an unexpected second IMD session the very next morning to help everyone start their day completely grounded.

Cultivating Resilience: The Wim Hof Method & Ice Bath Recovery

On her final evening, the energy shifted from internal softening to the fundamentals of the Wim Hof Method (WHM). A mix of advanced riders, complete beginners, and our local team gathered under the mangroves to look at how specific breathing patterns and mental focus help control how our bodies respond to stress.

Then came the ice bath.

Stepping into freezing water in the middle of tropical Sri Lanka is an intense mental shift. Under Flo’s calm, no-nonsense guidance, everyone took a turn. For anyone living an active lifestyle, cold exposure is one of the most effective ways to jumpstart physical recovery—it drops inflammation instantly and forces tired muscles into deep repair. The collective buzz around the camp afterward was awesome, full of shared energy, laughter, and high fives.

A Holistic Space at the Lagoon

Whether you come to Kalpitiya to unhook for the first time or simply to disconnect from a high-stress corporate job, these communal sessions are what shape the daily life at KSL. Our resort is built to support both sides of your routine: the wild adventure on the water and the conscious recovery of it.

If you are currently based in Dubai or traveling through the UAE and want to experience Flo’s live Wim Hof workshops, ice baths, or holistic life coaching, check out her work at Flow of Life.

With our two unique, open-air yoga shalas—one situated directly on the beach for sunset views and the other nestled quietly within the local mangroves—we provide the perfect setting for deep, focused somatic group work.
