Beyond the Lagoon – Exploring the Red Sea with Sick Dog Surf

The World of Kite Safaris & Authentic Connections

At Kitesurfing Lanka, we’ve always believed that kiting is about the people you meet and the communities you build. That’s why we love connecting with crews who share our “adventure-first” philosophy.

Enter Sick Dog Surf.

Based in Hurghada, Egypt, Phil and his team have been mastering the art of the Kite Safari since 2015. While we provide you with a regenerative home base on land here in Kalpitiya, these guys have turned the Red Sea into their playground, using their own yacht to explore the most remote kiting conditions Egypt has to offer.

Life on the Water

What makes a Sick Dog Kite Safari special is the total immersion. Starting from Hurghada, their trips head to the northern islands—Tawila, Geisum, Ashrafi, and Abu Mungar. These are spots where the water is butter-flat, the wind is steady, and the horizon is wide open.

It’s a week-long journey where the boat is your home. You wake up at the spot, kite until sunset, and enjoy fresh meals prepared by the crew. No transfers, no crowds—just you, your friends, and the Red Sea.

Expertise You Can Trust

Don’t let the laid-back name fool you—these guys are serious about the sport. With a team of certified IKO and VDWS instructors and an experienced European Kite Guide, they’ve taught thousands of students of all ages and skill levels over the years.

Whether you are a complete beginner looking for your first meters on the board or an advanced rider wanting to dial in new maneuvers, they have the professional background to make it happen safely and effectively.

Two Hubs, One Spirit

We love supporting owner-operated businesses that care about the guest experience as much as we do.

KSL is your “Regenerative Adventure Hub” on solid ground—a place to slow down and connect with the Sri Lankan community. Sick Dog Surf is the nomadic equivalent on the water—a floating community chasing the best wind in Egypt from March till November.

If you’re looking to trade the coconut trees of Kalpitiya for a week of turquoise island-hopping in the Red Sea, Phil and his crew are the ones to call.

Check out their upcoming 2026 dates and book your cabin at sickdogsurf.com.
