The KTA Sri Lanka Wrap-Up

The KTA Sri Lanka is over and what a great event it was! We saw some fantastic riding from both the locals and the international riders who made the trip, with some tightly fought battles all the way to the finals.

Kitesurfing Lanka was lucky enough to sponsor the event and we hosted the epic final party and prize giving on the beach in front of the camp! We partied well into the early hours, bringing a brilliant week to a memorable (although in some cases the party may not be so memorable!) end.

The week started with the National championships, which gave the Sri Lankan boys the chance to get out and show how much the level of their riding has improved in recent years. There were some great performances and close heats, with the level higher than ever, with mega loops, blind 313s and board offs now becoming standard tricks, which even a few years ago would have been unheard of here. In the end Anishka Dinel narrowly edged out Samara Priyankara to take the win, and we’re sure next year it’s going to be even tougher for the reigning champ!

Internationals and hang time came next and with a lot of the staff getting involved it was a great event to support. Everyone gave it their all and the judges had their hands full making sure they were fair and on top of everything. The final winners could have been predicted from the start, and with completely dominant performances Yo and Aya came out ahead.

Last but not least was the Asian men and women, with Yo and Aya coming is as hot favourites the rest of the field had to really work hard. Unfortunately for everyone else they both came out swinging, and apart from a wobble in the quarters where Yo nearly lost to Anishka Dinel, everything went smoothly and they ended up on top. Well deserved asian champs

Thanks to everyone who came down to support, ride and also to party on the final night. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did
